CARE Team Ministry

The CARE Team of Oceanview UMC is committed to the “care” of the church congregation and their families.

Colossians 3:12 “So as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience…”

What We Do:

  • Send cards to those who are ill, undergoing surgery, need encouragement, have a death in the family, etc.
  • Send birthday cards and letters to the college students and scholarship students.
  • Uplift spirits of those who are home bound, in hospitals, or in nursing homes through visitation.
  • Provide meals, rides, etc. when needed.
  • Contact the Church Office or Lisa Leard, if you know of someone who would like Communion brought to their home.

Hospitality at Oceanview

Oceanview strives to be a community that practices Hospitality. Hospitality, as we see it, is an extension of who we are. We are a group of people who gather to love God, serve God and live in fellowship with others. Therefore, all are welcome to join us on the journey of followings Jesus, a path that will lead to peace, assurance and joy.

Hebrews 13:2 (NRSV) “Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it.”

There are lots of opportunities in Hospitality at Oceanview – including things that YOU may see, but we haven’t yet noticed. How do we extend a smile, a welcome and our joy to others? We can do it a myriad of ways.

Hospitality means everything from kitchen help, to setting up or tearing down the Fellowship Hall for Dinners. Maybe you like to cook? Perhaps you could make coffee on a Sunday or baking danish and cookies for our fellowship time. Consider ‘adopting’ the youth group dinner some night, providing a dinner for the Sunday night youth meetings.

Some of our other Hospitality opportunities are listed below:

  • Greeters are very important, making everyone, especially visitors feel welcome. Several greeters are needed at the sidewalk and near the front entrance each service. Fran Hancock from 11:00 am Traditional Worship and Rance Deware from 9:00 am Modern Worship make sure these people are in place. If you have a great smile, a warm handshake and are not afraid to use either – then join us as Greeters.
  • Ushers: Rance DeWare, at the 9:00 am Modern Worship and Scott Logan at the 11:00 am Traditional Worship are our head ushers. Ushers are important for helping everyone feel at home, answering questions, handing out bulletins, and guiding newcomers. If you like helping people feel more at home – then consider helping to usher.

Of course, training will be provided for each area or task as needed.

Prayer Ministry

Jump Start Your Week!

Monday Night Prayer Team – Room 56 at 6:00 pm

Every Monday night (holidays excepting), a group of dedicated individuals meet for a special time of prayer. Those who may be out-of-town often call in and join the meeting via conference call. We meet most Monday’s at 6:00 pm in Room 56 in the lower level of the Fellowship Hall building. Come as you are, join us around the table.

We pray for our church and community, including those prayer requests raised from attendees of our services and any requests phoned or emailed to the church office throughout the week. It is a time to focus and connect us to Jesus and each other.

It’s a great way to begin the week and to feel the power of prayer. Come as you are, join us around the table. Give it a try!

Waterford Senior Living Ministry

DATE: Every 2nd Sunday

WHERE: The Waterford Assisted Living Facility on US 1

TIME: 11:00 am

MEET: Activities Building

Our goal is to put a “God smile” on patient's and resident's faces while we put a smile on our hearts.

Every second Sunday at 11:00 am we perform a church service at the Waterford Senior Living/Nursing Home, in Juno Beach.

We have a guitar and piano duo accompanying our singing of hymns in addition to our sing-a-long of the Oldies but Goodies from the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s. Their favorite song so far is “Take Me Out to the Ballgame”. You can help by bringing your best “shower voice” to our events, pass out song books and cards, etc. to the patients thereby helping to bring a smile to their face.
