September 6  2020 Home Worship

Staying home is a form of loving your neighbor.

Think about it, you may be staying home for your own health but in reality you then become less of a carrier to others that you might come in contact with.

These days might get very lonely for some. Please be in prayer for those who live alone. Remember in your prayers those who do not have a home to stay in. Take this time to grow in your trust of God and not be anxious.

This is not live worship, it is a way to worship at your home in place of our worship gatherings. You see Oceanview family and staff sharing our gifts with each other. As we do this, we hope you will feel close to God who is near even though we are far apart. May God Bless you and Keep you.

Prayers of the People

Offer up your own prayer. Offer praise and thanksgiving to God. Share your worries and concerns with God. Pray for other people. Pray for people who are sick, lonely, and afraid. Pray for medical professionals, medical researchers, first responders, and community leaders who are working so hard to keep us well. Ask God to help you find creative ways to reach out to people and share God’s love via phone, card, email, or social media, etc.

Pastoral Prayer

Pastor Emily Denmark McGee

My Pastoral prayer from Spessard Holland Beach Park in Melbourne on the day of my dad's surgery.  As we pray for one another, we intercede for health, grief, and loss, comfort, justice, for gentleness and love to abound.  We remember those less fortunate and make space for the needs of others operating on sacrificial love after the example of Christ our Lord. Amen.

Scripture Matthew 18:15-20 NIV

15 “If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault,  just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over. 16 But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses. 17 If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church; and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector.

18 “Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

19 “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”

Great Things - Oceanview Worship

Verse 1

Come let us worship our King, Come let us bow at His feet

He has done great things

See what our Savior has done, See how His love overcomes

He has done great things, He has done great things

Chorus

O Hero of Heaven You conquered the grave. You free every captive and break every chain

O God You have done great things

We dance in Your freedom awake and alive. O Jesus our Savior Your name lifted high

O God You have done great things

Verse 2

You’ve been faithful through every storm, You’ll be faithful forevermore

You have done great things

And I know You will do it again, For Your promise is yes and amen

You will do great things, God You do great things

Bridge

Hallelujah God above it all. Hallelujah God unshakable.

Hallelujah You have done great things

You’ve done great things

Offering Prayer

Oceanview Online Giving: Giving is a part of our worship to God. Your generosity helps us minister God’s hope and healing to our community and beyond. Contribute here: Oceanview Give. Thank you for helping show Christ real and relevant to the world.

Prayer: Everlasting God, you are kind and trustworthy. Every day you graciously provide what we need from your abundance. We are grateful that you bring healing and hope for our life as individuals and as a faith community. Accept these monetary gifts and offerings to strengthen our church’s outreach to our neighbors. May more people come to know you and your love through our ministries. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus, our Savior. Amen

Blessing of Reconciliation

Let us go forth strong in our faith and our hope, for God our Father has made all things new in Jesus Christ. He sends us to witness to his love and to play a role in the new creation. May God, who knows our joy, our anger and our pain, guide us always, and may we be courageous, stay faithful and live a life worthy of the Christian faith.

Mission Focus: UMW Racial Justice Charter Session

Thursday, Sept 10th - 7:00 pm - Racial Justice Charter Session via Zoom  Sponsored by UMWomen.

We are living in challenging times and racial justice is a major issue. One of the historic principles of United Methodist Women is human rights for all people. God is the creator of all people of all races, and we are all God’s children.

From the beginning, United Methodist Women has tried to build a community and social order without racial barriers. The Charter for Racial Justice is the product of that effort. This session led by Jeanine Christian, Mission Coordinator for Spiritual Growth at Trinity UMC Gainesville UMW and a North Central District UMW officer.

Join us as Jeanine explores the Charter and we discuss ways we can be more proactive in addressing the concerns. Learn what other local, district and state-wide UMWomen are doing about this issue.

Read the Charter for Racial Justice and sign up for the Racial Justice Newsletter at the United Methodist Women website: www.unitedmethodistwomen.org/racialjusticecharter

Churches damaged by Hurricane Laura

LAKE CHARLES, La. — The Louisiana and Texas conferences are assessing the effects of Hurricane Laura. The Louisiana Conference reported damage to some churches, with major damage to Lake Charles' University United Methodist Church. "While the water was not as bad as what we had expected, the winds have had a devastating effect on the Lake Charles area and points along Laura's path across Louisiana," said Bishop Cynthia Fierro Harvey.
