Prelude: How Can I Keep From Singing?
NYC Virtual Choir
UMH #125 Canticle of Covenant Faithfulness
Leader: Seek the Lord who now is present, call upon the Lord, who is near,
People: let the wicked forsake their way, and the unrighteous their thoughts;
Leader: Let the return, that the Lord may have mercy on them; that our God may abundantly pardon.
People: For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Leader: For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and return not but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,
People: so shall my word be that goes forth from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I intend, and prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
Hymn: A Charge I Have to Keep I Have UMH #413
1. A charge to keep I have, a God to glorify,
a never-dying soul to save, and fit it for the sky.
2. To serve the present age, my calling to fulfill;
O may it all my powers engage to do my Master's will!
3. Arm me with jealous care, as in thy sight to live,
and oh, thy servant, Lord, prepare a strict account to give!
4. Help me to watch and pray, and on thyself rely,
assured, if I my trust betray, I shall forever die.

A Prayer for Grace
O God our Father,
we thank you that today you have called us to worship you and learn of you.
You alone know our needs.
Satisfy them with your unchanging love.
In your presence may we find comfort in sorrow, guidance in perplexity, strength to meet temptation, grace to overcome the fascination of disobedience, and courage to face up to the hostility of this rebellious world.
Above all, may we meet Jesus and go out from our worship indwelt by his spirit.
This prayer we ask to your glory and in his name.
Amen.

A Blessing for the Day
Before us it is blessed, behind us it is blessed,
below us it is blessed, above us it is blessed,
around us it is blessed as we set out with Christ.
Our speech is blessed as we set out for God.
With beauty before us, with beauty behind us,
with beauty below us, with beauty above us,
with beauty around us, we set out for a holy place indeed. Amen.
