Home Worship for

the Third Sunday in Advent

Staying home is a form of loving your neighbor. Think about it, you may be staying home for your own health but in reality you then become less of a carrier to others that you might come in contact with. We hope you will feel close to God who is near even if we are far apart. May God Bless you and Keep you.

Remember that CDC guidelines state that even in Phase 3, if you are in a high risk category, it is highly recommended that you remain sequestered and safe as much as possible. Caregivers and family members are encouraged to do the same, so as to not jeopardize their loved ones. If you are not comfortable attending socially distanced activities, please stay home and stay in touch!

Christmas Carol Sing Along:

"It Came Upon a Midnight Clear"

Verse 1

It came upon the midnight clear, That glorious song of old

From angels bending near the earth, To touch their harps of gold

Peace on the earth good will to men, From heaven's all gracious King

The world in solemn stillness lay, To hear the angels sing

Verse 2

Still thro' the cloven skies they come, With peaceful wings unfurled

And still their heavenly music floats, O'er all the weary world

Above its sad and lowly plains, They bend on hovering wing

And ever o'er its Babel sounds, The blessed angels sing

Verse 3

And ye beneath life's crushing load, Whose forms are bending low

Who toil along the climbing way, With painful steps and slow

Look now for glad and golden hours, Come swiftly on the wing

O rest beside the weary road, And hear the angels sing

Verse 4

For lo the days are hastening on, By prophet bards foretold

When with the ever-circling years, Comes round the age of gold

When peace shall over all the earth, Its ancient splendors fling

And the whole world give back the song, Which now the angels sing

Lighting of the Third Candle of Advent

Christmas Carol Sing Along:
"Joy to the World"

Verse 1

Joy to the world the Lord is come

Let earth receive her King

Let ev'ry heart prepare Him room

And heav'n and nature sing, And heav'n and nature sing

And heav'n and heav'n and nature sing

Verse 2

Joy to the earth the Savior reigns

Let men their songs employ

While fields and floods

Rocks hills and plains

Repeat the sounding joy, Repeat the sounding joy

Repeat repeat the sounding joy

Verse 3

No more let sins and sorrows grow

Nor thorns infest the ground

He comes to make His blessings flow

Far as the curse is found, Far as the curse is found

Far as far as the curse is found

Verse 4

He rules the world with truth and grace

And makes the nations prove

The glories of His righteousness

And wonders of His love, And wonders of His love

And wonders wonders of His love

Advent Prayer for Joy

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the joy that entered the world when Jesus was born.

Thank you for becoming God with us.

Lord, sometimes it’s difficult to live joyfully, especially in difficult or busy seasons. Please purify our hearts this week and remind us that You’re in control. Help us to consider it joy when we experience trials of any kind because we know You’re creating something beautiful and eternal.

As we fix our eyes and hearts on You, fill our souls with renewed strength, courage, and hope. Lord, you are always worthy of being praised – and we want to worship You! Amen

Rev. Betty Kniss

Scripture: Isaiah 42:9 (KJV)

9 Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare:

before they spring forth I tell you of them.

Message: A New Joy!

Pastor Emily Denmark McGee

Anticipation Series

A sermon for the third Sunday in Advent based on Isaiah 42:9 God's doing a new thing. It's cause for rejoicing but oh! where we have been up to now!

The Great Realization: Hindsight 2020

Advent Offering

Oceanview Online Giving: Giving is a part of our worship to God. Your generosity helps us minister God’s hope and healing to our community and beyond. Contribute here: Oceanview Give. Thank you for helping show Christ real and relevant to the world.

Offering Prayer: God of love and light: just as John the Baptist came long ago in Judea to witness to your light, we remember that the offering you seek is that what we have and how we live should also witness to the light. We admit that there are times when we feel the darkness is just too prevalent, too strong, then we realize that we are ignoring the call to witness to the light. May we witness through our giving and our compassion, through what we say and what we do. In Christ’s name, we pray. Amen. (John 1:6-8, 19-28)

Advent Blessing of Joy

Be people of joy.

Let joy live in your heart and share the joy of Christ with all you meet.

Share joy by seeing the good in each other.

Share joy by remembering good times and hoping for good times to come.

Share joy by praying for our world.

In this Advent season, we need to see, feel, and share joy.

As you go out into the wonder of God’s creations, share joy, peace, and hope with those you meet.

"Let the World Sing"

Oceanview Worship Band

Verse 1

Quietly all the world is listening
Waiting for the skies to sing to us below
Unafraid that something is about to change
Knowing it's the very thing that we need most

And so we wait and so we cry
Salvation fall this holy night

Let the world sing gloria!
The light has come, our death undone

In wond'rous love
Let the world sing gloria!
The Kingdom comes to ev'ryone

Our God with us we sing gloria.

Verse 2

Hear the song rising from the hearts who long
To stand in wonder of the Son who comes to save
See the night disappear in heaven's light
Suddenly the world made right this perfect day

And so we praise and so we rise

Beyond amazed by love divine

Gloria gloria, In excelcis Deo
Gloria gloria, In excelcis Deo
