Song: How Firm a Foundation

1. How firm a foundation, ye Saints of the Lord,  Is laid for your faith in his excellent word!

What more can he say than to you he hath said, Who unto the Savior, who unto the Savior,

Who unto the Savior for refuge have fled?

3. Fear not, I am with thee; oh, be not dismayed, For I am thy God and will still give thee aid.

I’ll strengthen thee, help thee, and cause thee to stand,  Upheld by my righteous, upheld by my righteous,

Upheld by my righteous, omnipotent hand.

Call to Worship: We Are Here to Follow Jesus

We are here to follow Jesus,

With halting steps,

And questioning minds

With ready hands,

And pierced hearts,

With joy for each other

And gratitude to God.

Let us follow Jesus,

And let us worship God.

Prayers of the People

Offer up your own prayer. Offer praise and thanksgiving to God. Share your worries and concerns with God. Pray for other people. Pray for people who are sick, lonely, and afraid. Pray for medical professionals, medical researchers, first responders, and community leaders who are working so hard to keep us well. Ask God to help you find creative ways to reach out to people and share God’s love via phone, card, email, or social media, etc.

Message: Kingdom, Not Building

Rev. Betty Kniss

Ways to Be the Church When The Church has Left the Building

The following are ways you can be the church on April 19 and beyond...

1. Call someone on the church directory list you don't know and find out how they are doing. Get to know them over the phone.

2. Send a note or a card to someone in the hospital, nursing home or prison. Have your email address added to the Care Team so you receive the emails of those needing cards, phone calls and prayers.

3. Link to give to Family Promise of North Central Palm Beach county. Go to their website and click on the donation button.

4. Give to the Good Samaritan Fund that Oceanview uses to help people in the community with food, utilities and housing needs. Make out a check to Oceanview and put "Good Samaritan" in the memo field.

5. Help the Palm Beach County Food Project feed the food insecure here in our County. During this pandemic, there is more need than ever. During our StayHome time, please donate money instead of food. Go to the website, click on the donate button.

6. Sew and donate face masks.

7. Connect with Christians Reaching Out to Society (CROS) at and click on the donation button.

8. St. George's Center needs the following for their lunch program: individual bags of chips, granola bars, cups of fruit or apple sauce, beef jerky, cookies, bottled water, juice boxes, bleach & dish soap, or you can make a monetary donation by going to and clicking on the donation button.

9. Share joy and gratitude with others as we practice social distancing.

10. Think positive thoughts. It will help your immune system to be stronger and help you stay healthy.

To date, COVID19 has greatly impacted the world at large. In addition to the 83 local organizations featured in Palm Beach County's Emergency Giving Guide, we invite you to find out about other local nonprofits who are dedicated to bettering the lives of individuals in Palm Beach County (and beyond). These have been greatly affected by these unprecedented times and depend on support to continue their missions. Access the Palm Beach County Emergency Giving Guide

Song: Sanctuary

Lord, prepare me to be a sanctuary , Pure and holy, tried and true

With thanksgiving, I'll be a living , Sanctuary for You.

It is you, Lord , Who came to save, The heart and soul , Of every man

It is you Lord , Who knows my weakness, Who gives me strength, With thine own hand.

Don’t do church – Be the church.

Let us turn our focus to others rather than ourselves by serving in our community. Through these actions, God tells us that through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can go beyond talking about our faith to putting our faith into action. Amen
