United Women in Faith

United Women in Faith is a supportive, inclusive Christian membership organization where women grow spiritually, develop as leaders and serve and work to create a world in which all women, children and youth thrive.

Our Mission: We seek to connect and nurture women through Christian spiritual formation, leadership development, creative fellowship and education so that they can inspire, influence and impact local and global communities.

Our Vision: We are a powerful, fearless force driven by God’s love and united in sisterhood. With a focus on women, children and youth, we act for justice and transform communities.

We face the realities we see in the world, even when they are not the ones we would like to see. However, our goal is not to bear witness simply to harms but also to God’s love by acting boldly to change those harms.

United Women in Faith at Oceanview

All women are welcome to attend our fun and informative meetings. Each meeting we have a focus: an on-point topic relating to missions, local needs, social justice, environmental awareness or similar. We also like to have a Hands-On Project; something related to our focus that engages our hands. That way we can talk but at the same time DO something creative, helpful, and engaging.

We gather on the second Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm. In Summer, we take a break and do not gather in June, July and August. We would love to have you join us!

Reading Program

The Reading Program is a cherished tradition that brings together members to explore, share and discuss books.

Reading is rewarding.

As you read, you can track your progress using our easy-to-use Reporting Form. When you submit the Report of Completion Requirements, you will be recognized with a Certificate of Recognition

Visit the Reading Program webpage: https://uwfaith.org/resources/reading-program/

Reading is connecting.

The Reading Program is not meant to be completed alone or in a vacuum. The UWF Atlantic Central District hosts a Zoom book group. If you would like to join the Zoom book group, please contact Alice Naegele at alicenaegele.umw@gmail.com for the link along with the catalog of books for this year.

Prayerful Yoga

Our Oceanview church family is deeply committed to prayer. We find that one expression of prayer is “Prayerful Yoga”.

Prayerful Yoga is a centered time of meditation joined with the physical experience of motion and energy. It can be a great blessing on our journey of life and faith. There are many different ways to engage in yoga, and we especially want to encourage folks new to yoga to feel comfortable in beginning this journey with us.

“Prayerful Yoga” is a ministry that is outward focused. For this reason, we pray for the needs of our community and encourage active expressions of grace to others in our world. Our Prayerful Yoga mission statement is to create a sacred and prayerful space where students can release limiting self-beliefs, listen to their hearts and be true to themselves and their own yoga practice.

You can contact the Prayerful Yoga team at: yoga@oceanviewumc.com

Rainsford (Rance) Deware, RYT

Rance was first introduced to yoga at 69 years young. He was immediately inspired to continue practicing and is now a certified 200-hour yoga instructor.

He looks forward to sharing his desire for yoga and its spiritual aspects with others by being compassionate and caring in a safe environment.

“Prayerful Yoga” at Oceanview United Methodist Church hopes to create an atmosphere that deepens our faith by calming the mind, body and soul.
